  • Engagement Manager

    The Engagement Manager (EM) leads critical and high-impact projects across diverse industries, functions, and geographies. As the project lead, the EM is responsible for final delivery of projects, ensuring development of high-quality outputs, mentoring of team members and ultimately managing satisfaction of internal Samsung affiliates. Throughout the project, an EMs is expected to work closely with Associate Principals and Principals overseeing their project.

    Samsung Global Strategy Group (GSG) is the primary internal strategy unit of Samsung Group, providing strategic guidance and a wide range of advisory services to Samsung executives across industries and geographies.

    The mission of GSG is to enhance the performance of Samsung’s various businesses through innovative and impactful projects, while simultaneously acting as a critical pipeline of global talent for Samsung. GSG operates as an internal consulting group, with over 60 members from the world’s top business schools and strategy consulting firms. All GSG members are based out of Samsung headquarters in Seoul, South Korea.

    GSG team is expanding rapidly and is looking to hire exceptional senior and experienced talent at the Engagement Manager level to strengthen its leadership team.

    Position description and key responsibilities

    The Engagement Manager (EM) leads critical and high-impact projects across diverse industries, functions, and geographies. As the project lead, the EM is responsible for final delivery of projects, ensuring development of high-quality outputs, mentoring of team members and ultimately managing satisfaction of internal Samsung affiliates. Throughout the project, an EMs is expected to work closely with Associate Principals and Principals overseeing their project.

    Specifically, the EM will:

    • Oversee day-to-day operations of one GSG project, including project planning, process management, output delivery, and resource allocation
    • Identify issues, develop hypotheses, structure and conduct analyses, synthesize recommendations, and present findings to client executives
    • Directly manage GSG team members and provide project-specific evaluation and feedback, as well as longer-term mentorship and coaching
    • Work closely with GSG leadership team to monitor GSG members’ skill development with respect to long-term career goals
    • Participate and represent GSG in year-round recruiting activities, including candidate assessment
    • Contribute to the development and delivery of internal training programs for the group
    • Support other functions of GSG (e.g., Knowledge Management, Diversity and Inclusion)

    Required qualifications and core competencies

    The successful candidate has a track record of career progression and success, and has Engagement Manager / Project Leader experience in a top management consulting firm or the internal strategy team of an industry-leading corporation. This person has relevant experience in industries where Samsung has a leading presence, such as semiconductors, mobile, consumer electronics, or biotechnology. This candidate has meaningful professional experience outside their home country, and is excited about the opportunity to live and work in Korea for a period of 4-5 years. She / he possesses an MBA, PhD, or JD degree from a top school.

  • Associate Principal

    The Associate Principal (AP) is part of the GSG leadership group and serves as a role model to post-MBA Global Strategists and Engagement Managers (Project Leaders). APs work with business leaders to address key strategic issues, developing high-impact initiatives and supporting their implementation across the organization.

APs work with business leaders to address key strategic issues, developing high-impact initiatives and supporting their implementation across the organization.

    APs will supervise multiple projects at once and will be responsible for guiding Engagement Managers (Project Leaders) and team members through each project, including problem solving, insight generation, storyline development, and client interactions. Through deep engagement and collaboration, APs mentor and develop junior team members while ensuring the highest quality of work is delivered to the client.

    APs serve as role models for the future generation of Samsung and GSG leaders. Beyond project supervision, organizational responsibilities also include: training and professional development; recruiting; industry-focused practice groups; performance evaluation; and other organizational improvement efforts.

    Specifically, the AP will:

    • Regularly engage clients to understand strategic challenges and business opportunities
    • Source, scope, and supervise projects to ensure excellence and maximize business impact
    • Provide thought leadership across a portfolio of projects and ensure output from each project adheres to the highest levels of quality
    • Work with GSG leadership to ensure group objectives and targets are achieved
    • Mentor and develop world-class talent and foster an apprenticeship culture
    • Participate in and continuously improve the foundations of people management and development, including: recruiting, training & development, knowledge management, and project oversight
    • Continuously role model the highest professional and personal standards, exhibiting the values of Samsung and GSG
